How far back do we go? I was born after 24 hours of Labor, my Mom was taken from LaGrange Hospital to Elkhart Hospital to have a Ceasarean. I was a 10lbs. baby. That was in 1978. I didn't fit anything that my parents brought to hospital. My dad tells the story about having to find clothes somewhere for me to come home. I am guessing that we don't need to go that far back though...
Graduated Lakeland 1997
After Receiving a 2/3 Scholarship, I attended the university persuing a degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
This was actually my senior year in High School, I joined and received my FF1 & FF2 . I was on the department for almost 8 years before I moved to California. When I am asked why I didn't rejoin after moving back, I said Politics. Now look at me, I am up to my elbows in that.
Back when I was 19, I first applied to be a Jailer, this was shortly after an event where a young Jailer was killed in the LOD trying to bring a more secure vehicle to a road officer. I was asked to wait until I was 21. I was hired in March of 2000, and became one of the first Jailers to fully understand the new computer systems at the Jail.
I was asked if I wanted to move from the Jail to Dispatch. They had a position and I was going though some tough times at the Jail. Not to get personal, but in the middle of divorce when your soon to be ex wife works at the same location can be a bit of mind game. I prospered in the new role at Dispatch and we had a lot of good fun moving Dispatch from the CenturyLink location to the Jail.
What is the thing that I bring as a candidate? I've been in the Private Sector for 18 years. I was the production manager for a remanufacturing facility in California. I've also been a DJ (something I still enjoy doing), Team Leader for Meijer, and currently I am a project engineer for Wellspring Components, LLC in Shipshewana. I designs Solar Systems, in additions to working systems that make my acheivements more repeatable.
Why can't a Government Operation work as well as a business? Being Financially and Socially responsible should be the first step to making a better community that continues to grow. We haven't been doing much growing in this community, isn't it about time to change that? Let's Go, Jason!
